Abstract

It is well recognized that the pattern of disease in Africans in Southern Africa differs widely from that in the European ; this fact applies no less to the vascular disorders. In Europeans, the most common vascular disorder is of a degenerative nature, of which atherosclerosis is the most common cause. In the Rhodesian African, any vascular disease is rare; atherosclerosis with its related disorders is even rarer. This article goes on to discuss Carotid Arterial Disease in Africans in Rhodesia.
