Abstract

The Department of Internal Affairs had approached the Hospital staff to ask If we would be prepared to facilitate the Batonka fishing people living in the Tribal Trust Land, hy holding a monthly clinic for them across the Lake. Distance being considerable, many of these relatively primitive people do not have the necessary funds .for transport to come for treatment in Kariba. In theory the D.LA. would provide a cabin cruiser which could anchor offshore from one of the most central Villages; those requiring treatment should then paddle out in their own canoes and be attended on board the official boat. I volunteered to go on a trial run!
