Abstract

I have chosen to speak on the management of epilepsy-because this is such a common condition~� it occurs in about 1 in 200 people in the United Kingdom and the United States of America, and judging by the findings of Levy et al in 1964/ probably even more frequently in Rhodesia. I am, moreover, going to confine my remarks to the ordinary cases of grand mal, or tonic-clonic convulsions, with no apparent underlying remediable cause--this being the commonest problem with which most of us will have to deal; and one which is often badly managed.
