Abstract

The first outbreak of plague in Lupane District is descriptionbed under the aspects of the clinical pictures, which occurred at St. Paul's Hospital. Similar observations were made at St. Luke's and Fatima Hospital, also in Lupane District. There was one case of primary pneumonic plague, who died. The cases of secondary .pneumonic plague and bubonic plague responded well to' antibiotics (Tetracycline and Streptomycin if admitted during the first 48 hours of the onset of the illness. All meningitic plague cases had an uneventful recovery. The outbreak was on its height during the months of highest rainfall, and faded away in the dry months.
