Abstract

The opponents of abortion claim that its performance involves the killing of a person or human being. This is the traditional approach. The debate is usually conducted on both sides in terms of drawing a line at conception, birth, or somewhere in between, where one starts to be a human being. But there is a distinction between a ""human being"" and a ""person."" A foetus, though a member of the species ""homo sapiens"" is not yet a person.
