Abstract

Sexually transmitted diseases are increasing in frequency throughout the world and Rhodesia is no exception. The incidence of venereal infections has been increasing in Bulawayo over the past few years and is now becoming a major health problem. For the year ended 30th June, 1977, the annual report of the Medical Officer of Health for the City of Bulawayo reported 2' 956 new cases of syphilis and 5 657 new cases of gonorrhoea amongst the African population.
