Abstract

Many marriages flounder because of sexual problems. Obviously a married couple must share a great deal more than a bed but if communication fails in this particular area then it is extremely difficult to establish it elsewhere. The quality of the sexual relationship may be taken as one indicator of the quality of the relationship as a whole. It seems that there is a series of myths about sex in our society and that many sexual problems encountered in marriage stem from a mistaken acceptance of these myths as reality. It is always tempting to pontificate, and offer a magic formula for successful living. There is, of course, no single prescription for a happy marriage; but there would seem to be a few common pitfalls that can readily be avoided.
