Abstract

A survey of 451 serum samples revealed 26% positive for Trichomonas by the I.F test, he prevalence in blacks (31 % ) being almost twice that in whites (17%). Males and females from each ethnic group showed about the same antibody prevalence and most seropositive samples came from the 21-30 years age group. There was no correlation between a positive I.F.A. testy and parity in pregnant females. These findings are discussed in relation to other studies of trichomoniasis in Africa and to the pathogenic significance of trichomonal infection.
