Abstract

Most of our modern drugs have been developed from naturally occurring compounds used in unsophisticated ""medical"" practice. It behoves us, therefore, to investigate claims made by Ngangas (witchdoctors) for the effectiveness of their compounds in different fields. This study involves the investigation in an animal model of substances regarded by Ngangas as having diuretic properties.
