Abstract

Cutaneous anthrax is probably transmitted by flies. This is supported by: the statements given by patients; the seasonal occurrence of anthrax epidemics; the locations of 'pustules' on the body; the insect-like appearance of early 'pustules' and the absence of 'pustules' in the mouth and pharynx and only minor 'pustules' appearing on the lips.
