Abstract

Anthrax in humans is briefly reviewed in the light of recent experience in Zimbabwe. The cutaneous form predominates; the enteric and pulmonary forms are extremely rare. Transmission of the disease is not entirely (as formerly thought), by contact with infected meat - flies have an equally important role in transmission. Cutaneous anthrax is easy to recognise and easy to treat.
