Abstract

In a longitudinal study carried out over an eight-year period (1968-75), a changing morbidity pattern of urethral venereal diseases among 868 patients attending the Medico Dermatology Unit of University Teaching Hospital, Lagos, was observed. It was noticed that 272 (31 %) were females, and 596 (69%) were males. Results of the microbiological urethral study among both sexes showed: gonococci (18%), candida (8%), trichomonas (5%).
