Abstract

During 1978, 115 patients with acute glomerulonephritis and thirty-five with the nephritic syndrome were admitted to Harare Hospital. Acute glomerulonephritis accounted for 0,5% of the total admissions during that year and double the number of admissions with this diagnosis, compared with previous years. 1978 was marked also by an outbreak of scabies skin infection (part of the current scabies pandemic) which came under control only during 1979 following an eradication programme planned by the Blair Research Laboratory.
