Abstract

During the course of a study on early diagnosis at Harare Hospital, Salisbury, an attempt was made to measure something of the magnitude of the problem of the disease in our community. It was found that the numbers were high, and patients presented when symptoms had been present for some time and the clinical stage of the disease was advanced. The patients were fairly young and highly parous thus the disease caused the illness and death of young women with children who still needed them. A study of the patients' coital habits showed them to be in the high risk group for carcinoma cervix.
