Abstract

Nearly all books on dermatology deal with the recognition of the signs and symptoms of the disease and then skip rapidly on to a few brief Paragraphs on treatment. The vast void in the middle, of how to tell the patient what the skin disease is all about, is almost invariably scrupulously ignored. This means that the patient's understanding of the problem, and his compliance with regard to treatment, the two cardinal factors, are not assured.
