Abstract

In view of the arguments advanced elsewhere in this article and in previous publications from the City Health Department, Salisbury, that biting flies are of importance in infecting humans, the distribution of cutaneous lesions is important. In the completed questionnaires returned the distribution of cutaneous lesions was analysed for relatively small numbers of cases in each case. This reflects the difficulty hard pressed staff have in producing information in retrospect. The fact that only limited numbers of cases were analysed by each respondent is probably realistic. In aggregate we have an analysis of 480 cases. Table 7 shows the distribution in the categories listed in the questionnaire, excluding the survey from Gatooma which is large enough to stand on its own.
