Abstract

Primary sclerosing cholangitis is a rare disorder of unknown aetiology resulting in obstructive jaundice and eventually secondary biliary cirrhosis. Although this condition is associated with disease such as ulcerative colitis, multifocal fibrosclerosis, Reidls struma and Crohn's disease, no causal relationship has been proven. Three patients are presented with sclerosing cholangitis associated with ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease and occurring as an isolated entity respectively. Aspects of the pathology, course and treatment of the disease are discussed.
