Abstract

One hundred and sixty-eight pairs of mothers' and cord blood samples were examined for the presence of measles haemagglutination inhibiting antibodies. The HI antibodies were present in 98% of mothers' blood and 97% of cord blood, suggesting w{de prevalence of measles virus in local population. The antibody titre remained virtually the same at three months. At six months 68% of the children were without detectable antibodies. No significant difference in children's susceptibility to measles was found between the ages of six and ten months.
