Abstract

Fisher (1956)1 descriptionbed a clinical entity comprising opthalmoplegia, ataxia and areflexia which he considered to be a variant of the Guillain-Barre syndrome (acute idiopathic polyneuritis). This has since become known as the Miller-Fisher syndrome and evidence is mounting that it is not a benign variant of the Guillain-Barre syndrome but a separate disease. Few cases have been reported and we wish to add another unusual case, the first from Zimbabwe.
