Abstract

Acute malaria is an acute parasitaemia akin to a septicaemia of bacterial origin. The attack in acute malaria bears many similarities to acute septicaemia both in its onset and course .and in its effects. Acute bacterial septIcaemia has certain special features, such as the emboli of bacterial endocarditis or the endotoxic shock of gram negative septicaemia due to E. coli. Malarial parasitaemia also carries some special features of its own.
