Abstract

The reference values for liver function analytes of Zimbabwean females of African and Caucasian origin were determined. The values for eight out of nine analytes in serum except the enzyme alanine aminotransferase were found to be significantly different between the two groups. Most of the analytes have a roughly Gaussian distribution with varying degrees of skewness and kurtosis. The distribution for cholesterol in Caucasian females was found to be bimodal, similar to that observed in Caucasian males
