Abstract

Drug-induced haemolysis in patients with glucose-6-phosphate-dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency accounts for some cases of blackwater fever in which malaria parasites cannot be found. A combination of factors, including the oxidant strength of drugs administered influence the likelihood of haemolysis occurring.
