Abstract

On comparison of dissolution of Methyl Dopa tablets it was apparent that of the three brands investigated the sugar-coated product had the lower dissolution rate. The most likely reason for this difference would be the length of time taken for the tablet to disintegrate. The two film-coated preparations, trade marks of Aldomet and Hypotens, on the other hand had similar dissolution characteristics, despite differences in disintegration time and can be assumed to have similar effects in a clinical situation. This would, however, have to be verified using human volunteers.
