oa Central African Journal of Medicine - Comparison of leucocyte and neutrophil counts in healthy and infected Nigerian males

Abstract

This article compares the leucocyte and neutrophil counts in males. It is concluded that although the leucocyte and neutrophil counts in this Nigerian population are low compared to those of the Caucasian groups, significant leucocytosis occurs in response to bacterial infection. The leucocyte count and differential is therefore still a helpful investigation for infections.
