oa Central African Journal of Medicine - Sickle cell cephalohaematoma in Benin City, Nigeria - a report of three cases
Abstract
Three cases of subperiosteal skull bone infarct and haemorrhage with cephalohaematoma formation in homozygous sickle cell disease (SCD) patients are presented. This rare complication is the first report of its kind from Nigeria and it presents as a cystic swelling over the skull bone. It does not cross suture lines. Symptomatic treatment resulted in the spontaneous regression of the cystic swellings over a period of 14 weeks.
