Abstract

Candida tropicalis is an uncommon cause of candidiasis in Nigeria. The organism has been isolated from patients in Lagos, Nigeria and in two vaginitis cases in Vom, Nigeria. Candidiasis is usually associated with patients already debilitated or rendered susceptible by another disease or treated for a long time with broad-spectrum antibiotics. C. tropicalis has been reported to be frequently associated with fungemia, endocarditis and urinary tract infections. We document here a case of dermatitis caused by C. tropicalis in a man.
