Abstract

Over the last eight years seven patients with ulcerative proctocolitis were seen and diagnosed at Mpito Central Hospital (Bulawayo). A diagnosis of ulcerative proctocolitis was taken as definitive if there was a history of diarrhoea with blood where an infective cause could reasonably be excluded, and only if there was sigmoidoscopic, histological and radiological confirmation of the diagnosis.
