Abstract

Paediatric acquired immuno-deficiency syndrome (AIDS) is being increasingly recognised and diagnosed in countries where human immuno-deficiency virus (HIV) infection (sero-prevalence) is relatively high. The present paper documents the clinical aspects of symptomatic HIV infection (AIDS and AIDS-related complex) in childhood based on a large series of patients diagnosed and evaluated at one centre in an African country, Zimbabwe.
