Abstract

A case of primary pyogenic psoas abscess presenting with paraparesis and motor paralytic bladder is presented. Available literature on primary psoas abscess, the rarity of neurological sequelae and the role of imaging techniques is diagnosis are discussed. A mechanism for the bladder and lower extremity involvement is proffered. The importance of clinical recognition and early surgical intervention is stressed.
