Abstract

The present study was prompted by our observation of splenomegaly in a high proportion of children seen in a village recently surveyed for diarrheal diseases. This prompted us to survey the available children five years and below for splenomegaly. The objective of the study was to ascertain the proportion of the young children who have splenomegaly possibly as a result of repeated attacks of malaria.
