Abstract

A new method of dealing with a patient with a cataract in one eye only is descriptionbed. It entails removing the cataract at a first stage operation. In the second stage operation, carried out ideally about three months later, an acrylic plastic lens is fitted inside the anterior chamber of the eye and is firmly secured so that the optical part is centred in front of the pupil. With this type of lens, dislocation, either forwards or backwards, cannot occur. The advantages and disadvantages of this method are discussed.
