My clinical impression is that intramuscular Lignocaine in generous doses lessens the amount of supplementary agents required in what is predominantly nitrous oxide-oxygen anaesthesia, and although the results are not uniformly satisfying regarding the expected smoothness of anaesthesia, the immediate postoperative period is certainly made easier for the patient.
