Abstract

A micro-Kjeldahl method for total serum protein of Africans was compared with the Van Slyke copper sulphate method. The latter method was found to give slightly higher results with a greater spread of figures, but was considered satisfactory for routine clinical work. The copper sulphate method can be regarded as suitable for population surveys if comparatively large changes in serum protein are to be compared.
