Abstract

(1) A method of studying morbidity pattern In an urban African hospital is discussed. (2) The general pattern of disease morbidity is discussed, with particular reference to the more common causes of admission to hospital. (3) The ratio of male to female patients is 1.6 to 1. (4) Twenty-five diseases or disease groups constitute over four�fifths of the total discharges from hospital. (5) Tuberculosis, malignant disease, burns and gastro-enteritis are discussed in some detail. (6) A detailed analysis of discharges due to accidents, poisonings and violence is submitted.
