Abstract

A case of Conn's syndrome due to adreno-cortical adenoma has been descriptionbed here. No improvement in glomerular filtration but substantial though incomplete recovery of renal concentrating power has occurred 18 months after operation. Blood pressure and muscular strength have returned to normal. Ankle oedema was present before operation. The tendency to high average concentration serum chloride has persisted at about the initial level and may be due to chronic pyelonephritis. The recognition of Conn's syndrome has been discussed, and it is concluded that with present diagnostic methods an adrenal adenoma as the cause can be established with certainty only by surgical exploration.
