Abstract

Following the chance observation that a patient who was suffering from gastro-enteritis and severe vomiting could not be given oral medication, what was to have been the first of a course of intramuscular injections of pyrrolidomethyl tetracycline produced such a rapid remission of symptoms that a trial was undertaken to determine the value of this treatment in comparison with the more usual forms of oral medication. The results indicate that pyrrolidino-tetracycline nitrate is a preferable form, as the former frequently produced pain at the injection site. The parenteral treatment discussed reduced the duration of the disease very materially In comparison with oral medication.
