Abstract

A method is descriptionbed of keeping termite colonies in the laboratory in such a way that they can be offered various food substances and watched whilst they are feeding. It is a method that should be applicable to many different species and should prove useful in testing the effects of poisons, attractants, repellants, etc. The laboratory method was an attempt to find out exactly what Amitermes atlanticus eat.
