Abstract

In , Muvumba-Ndinga and Pharaoh draw a link between human security and HIV/AIDS in a nuanced way through a variety of articles by different authors. In its eleven chapters and the conclusion, the edited volume deconstructs and conceptualizes the notion of human security to mean more than freedom from violence, and encompasses the protection of the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS. The strength of the articles in this collection lies in the variety of voices represented. Contributors are a mix of researchers, practitioners and activists. The first four chapters discuss the relationship between human security and HIV/AIDS in general whereas the remaining six focus on specific sectors and institutional responses human security in the context of the epidemic.
