Abstract

Prior to the United Nations there was the League of Nations which came into existence in 1920 after the Treaty of Versailles and fell apart on April 18th 1946. The League of Nations was an inactive organization that did nothing more than provide an atmosphere and "legal" basis for strong nations to feed on weaker ones, like Italy against the then Kingdom of Abyssinia in 1935, which along with other failures led to its demise and the creation of the United Nations on October 24th 1945.
