Abstract

Professor Ali Mazrui's contribution provides very insightful reflections on how the link between global governance and the war on terrorism has impacted Africa in the aftermath of the September 11 2001 attack on the US. While the author justifiably points out that September 11 can be viewed as the climax and inception of a new 'narrative', I think this is more debatable for Africa than for the US, at least from the evidence so far. I would have also liked more discussion of its effects on the key problems facing Africa today including the problems of poverty, malfunctioning economies, democracy, and human rights.
