Abstract

There is an abundance of entrepreneurship in the creative industry in Africa (broadly defined as Sub-Saharan Africa and North Africa) including music, dance, festivals and the movie industry. Due to the competitive nature of the creative industry many entrepreneurs in Africa are focusing on Europe and North America in order to increase their popularity and ensure longevity in an otherwise short lifespan industry. These creative entrepreneurs from Africa have changed the way music is viewed by tapping into political issues in the European Union and utilising their own innovative marketing campaigns. The rising economic powerhouses of countries in Africa including Nigeria and Ghana have exported creative entrepreneurs to Western Europe and the United States. In addition, despite many countries in Africa being developing countries, the entrepreneurship occurring within the creative industry surpasses that in many developed countries due to the role of innovation and creativity.
