Abstract

The rapid pace of evolution of new technologies continues to propel sophistication on the user end both in terms of utility and exploitation of emergent applications. In an effort to offer compelling value to clients, three of the four mobile service provider firms in Kenya have generated innovations with capacity for mobile funds transfer. This paper analyzes the utilization trends of mobile based electronic payment systems in Kenya. Constructs derived from analysis of usage dimensions are employed to provide a suitable investigation framework. Conclusions realized through the user pattern appraisal propounded in this study offer perspectives that are generic enough to be applied to a broad range of application development decisions so as to yield robust mobile payment solutions.
