Abstract

There is a need to integrate knowledge, information and competitive advantage of various organizations spread across the globe. Be it Indian Premier League, Hollywood and bollywood movies, globalization has embraced all the economic activities. The wave of globalization has swept through the cross-border technological innovations and research and development (R&D).


Organizations are making effort to capitalize on Globally Distributed Work (GDW) for attaining competitive advantage. This paper addresses the issues of impact of globalization on cross border technological innovation and R&D. The developing and emerging countries have opened for foreign investment and the trend is that "Innovation Networks" have created a new wave of R&D. Globalization demands for an "open innovative approach" and high trust levels. Equal emphasis is needed on retention of core capabilities and collaborative relationships keeping the intellectual property rights intact and protected.
