Abstract

We live in interesting times. The global economy is in crises raising the profound question of how humanity is likely to relate to the future. These crises seem to be deeper than mere industrial and financial cyclical upswings and downswings that appear periodically in short term and long wave cycles. It appears they may also defy the swings between liberal and Keynsian recipes to provide anti-cyclical measures to address these systemic disruptive structural breakdowns in the global economy. This raises profound questions related to how the future beyond the current crises can be addressed. It looks African humanism in the philosophy of Ubuntu can be advanced as a possible way to salvage the future that the crises is ruining. There is much in African ubuntu humanism that can be applied as a means to create a future by making a world out of the current deep crises.
