Abstract

Mother, where are you; where have you gone? Mother, do you think of us, do you remember us? We are in a land called America, a country called the United States of America - to be exact. We are thirty-eight million strong - woman, men, girls and boys. We are a strong and enduring people... Indeed, your family has grown. In this land, on the other side of the great Atlantic Ocean that separates us; we are teachers, college professors, doctors, lawyers, business people, administrators, entrepreneurs, students, professional athletes and convicts, wards, patients, and 'social specimens'.
