HIV/AIDS has bedevilled the continent for the past three decades and by admission of the African Union, has caused the death of over 25 million people. While Public Health policy has been effective in dealing with some of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in a few countries on the continent, the majority have had numerous problems in dealing with the pandemic. The latter is due to the pre-existing conditions in society, namely: political conflicts, corruption, risky sexual behaviour, migration, inefficient or collapsed health systems, incorrect and/or insufficient approaches, erroneous cultural myths about the pandemic, poverty and a range of other socio-economic problems.
