Abstract

New Zealand is known for its low cost dairy production and efficiency and 75% of New Zealand dairy farmers rely on LIC (formerly known as Livestock Improvement) to breed profitable bulls for this environment. LIC progeny tests 300 bulls annually - 140 Holstein-Friesian, 85 Jersey and 75 crossbreds (Holstein-Frisian x Jersey) - and operates the single largest Jersey progeny test scheme in the world. The company is the world leader in the breeding of crossbred bulls.
