Genetic breeding has taken care of the production capacity of modern dairy breeds, with many of them capable of producing well over 60 litres a day. We need to also change the way in which we feed the cow in order to keep her healthy and allow her to reach her genetic potential for milk production.

For this reason, research has been turned to the task of making the nutrients in the feed more available. This is done by manipulating the microflora that reside within the GIT of all living things and this is the point at which all the "biotics" come into play.
