Abstract

As winter and low temperatures approach, it is time to consider and implement any changes you may need to ensure the health and wellbeing of your calves. The temperature at which calves begin to be affected by the cold, is warmer than you may think, especially if they are wet or if it is windy. The combination of wet and wind is a more important stress factor for calves than either on its own, even if temperatures are warm.
