Abstract

The reduction of methane emissions from livestock production has received a lot of interest, because ruminants may account for as much as 16% of the global methane production, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 2001, and methane contributes to climate change and global warming. There has, however, been an ongoing debate over whether the costs of reducing methane emissions outweigh the risk of not changing anything.
